Yes, we’re all beaten down by bad novelty Christmas songs every year. And yes, this is a novelty Christmas song, but done as only Stephen Colbert can do it. Brassy horns and self-aware lyrics make for a jazzy little holiday carol somewhere between “Sleigh Ride” and the theme from “Family Guy”. Who is such a Grinch that they can’t appreciate couplets like “Public to whom I’m so proud to have pandered/ Please save my children and make this a standard?” This is one year you just might be glad to find coal in your digital stocking. Colbert, that is.
